Water Embassy Competition 2006

The water embassy was designed to be easily assembled, all components hauled by truck. Light steel structure, recycled wood panels, cellular concrete slabs and vegetal fiber roof.

Elevated on stilts, the courtyard shape protects from the sun and collects rain water that is stored underneath. The resulting microclimate is comfortable while at the same time it worships our most precious natural element. Like an H2O temple.

After the building is completed and is operating as a research lab and conference facility for conflict resolution, the ground floor doubles as a water treatment plant. The idea is that after the conflict is resolved, water will be treated more properly, recycled and protected. The water treatment plant remains working after the building is disassembled and moved to another site of water scarcity.
